Types of grants
RESIST
Resist grants are for rapid response urgent action. These shall be focussed on grassroots/vulnerable/minority groups who are directly affected by a situation. The grant aims allow them to quickly mobilise and react to recent political developments or unforeseen events. It is not intended to go to larger organisations (approx. budget should be below 50k EUR) or activities that lack money due to bad planning or unsuccessful fundraising.
- Maximum amount: 2.000 EUR
- Frequency: Rolling basis throughout the year until the budget is exhausted
- Launch: Trial launched in April 2020
- Process: The FG makes sure that proposals follow the grant requirements. The CC takes over this task if FG members submit proposals.
REDISTRIBUTE
Redistribute is a grantmaking experiment to meet the moment, designed at the Annual Assembly 2025. The aim was to give unrestricted grants to individual members to recognise the varying needs of a pan-European network of grassroots activists and to acknowledge the energy and effort spent, at times to the point of burnout.
- Maximum amount: 150.000€/no. of members - (minus) reallocation amount given + (plus) reallocation amount received = (equals) final amount
- Frequency: Once so far in 2025, might be annual
- Launch: Trial launched in Septemberl 2025
-
Process: 150.000€ are made available to everyone who registers their interest by presenting their individual activist practice and need for resourcing.
Members are then obliged to fill in a survey around self-reflection and positionality (privileges, access, social capital etc.) and relationality after reading all member presentations.
Optional learnings around mutual aid and a collective assembly are offered.
Eventually members decide whether they ask for their equal share (150.000€/no. of registrations) or choose to reallocate some of their equal share to other participants who might be more in need.
